Nelson Mandela, before his presidency (1994 – 1999), was an anti-apartheid activist.  In 1962 he was arrested and sentenced to life in prison. Mandela served 27 years in prison and following his release  in February 1990, he led his party in the negotiations that led to multi-racial democracy in 1994. As president he frequently gave priority to reconciliation.

Mandela has received more than 250 awards over four decades, including the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize.

If one man can come back from such a horrific start in life, then you can overcome any set back you may have had in your life, don’t’ you think?
